The Boats

The Sailboat – “¡Pura Vida!”

Our beloved sailboat: 2000 Island Packet 420, Hull #17. She’s 45 feet long and 15 feet wide.

She was our exclusive home for the first six years of our voyaging (2015-2021). She’s now our part-time home in the tropics.

We found it! Details about our boat/home.

Our boat’s new name and why we chose it.

Our new addition: 2019 Collingwood Wide-Beam Baby Euro Cruiser steel barge. She’s 60 feet long and 10 feet wide.

She’s our part-time home in France.

  1. What a beautiful boat! It reminds me of the Cape Dory we are interested in. I love all the wood and how solid it looks.

    1. Thanks, Camille! We love how solid she is, especially in rough seas. The wood…well, it’s a love/hate relationship.

  2. Hi, I’ve just found your website/blog through the Island Packet FB group. Fascinating article about replacing the fridge/freezer with a front opening one, what a job! We are at the start of our journey discovering how tough IP’s are! Fairly new to sailing (3yrs of chartering and 3 RYA courses under our belts) we have leapt into the deep end and found an IP420 #19, Escapade not too far from us in the UK. Visiting the IP factory and my mum passing away (life is too short) made the crazy decision easy! Escapade is currently on the East coast of England and so far we have replaced nearly everything that moves and doesn’t move. The hardest thing is to come to terms with is total lack of haste with which anything is done, it’s like getting blood out of a stone! We do what we can ourselves but for initial safety we want most things done professionally. Our plan – head to the Med next year and see where this beautiful lady wants to take us before we are too old! Anyway, I will catch up with the rest of your articles and videos and look forward to seeing what you get up to. Regards
